Warmhill woodland
A mixed species woodland covering 38 hectares situated 3 miles south of Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire, and lies on the edge of the Forest of Dean. It is a commercial wood comprising 50 % conifers (Larch, Douglas Fir and Norway Spruce) and 50% broadleaves (Chestnut, chestnut coppice and oak).
Much of our work at Warmhill Wood is to enhance the natural health of the woodland and eco-system. We are following a Plan Operations with the Forestry Commission and a Countryside Stewardship agreement to encourage and enhance biodiversity with Natural England. This specifies active management of animal habitats and re-establishing native tree species. The Forestry Commission Plan of Operations guides us with the process of tree stock renewal.
